BASEL, Switzerland: This week, a German court prohibited a cut-price dental implant company from claiming that its products are hydrophilic. Global dental implant manufacturer Straumann prompted the decision after having proved in laboratory tests that the claims were spurious.

According to a recent study, regular tooth brushing and flossing may prove helpful in preventing meningitis. The research findings suggest that there could be an association between certain types of bacteria, frequently seen in mouth, and meningitis which results in a very dangerous inflammation of tissues surrounding the brain. The study is highlighted in the International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology.
