If you sometimes get a jolt of pain in your mouth when you drink or eat something hot or cold, you're not alone: A new survey of U.S. dental offices finds that one in eight people has over-sensitive teeth. Postmenopausal women who have smoked are at much higher risk of losing their teeth than women who never smoked, according to a new study published and featured on the cover of the Journal of the American Dental Association by researchers at the University at Buffalo. The report assessed the current status based on polices that were activated staring from July 2012. Alexandria, Va., USA – January 23, in Geneva, the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) International Negotiating Committee (INC) completed negotiations on an agreement for a global, legally-binding treaty on mercury. The agreement contains provisions for the reduction of dental amalgam including increased dental research into alternatives. According to researchers from the United States, saliva has been playing an increasing role in recent years in the identification of various oral and systemic conditions. Salivary fluid is increasingly being utilized as a means of health surveillance. US researchers at the moment are trying to develop new ways to use salivary fluid for further indications. The latter include cancer diagnosis. |
