The sealing of a tooth root-end post apicoectomy is somewhat problematic and such endodontic treatment can fail. This is usually the result of leakage of the material used in the retrograde filling. Microleakage has been associated with amalgam, zinc oxide eugenol cement and glass-ionomer cement. Leakage from mineral trioxide aggregate has been shown in some studies to be less prone to leakage than these other materials but there is evidence that leakage may increase over time. |
