According to two recent studies, poor dental hygiene in patients with congenital heart disease can increase their risk of endocarditis. These studies were led by Professor Philip Moons, professor in nursing science at the University of Leuven, Belgium, and guest professor at Copenhagen University Hospital, Denmark. The results of both studies were highlighted at the 12th Annual Spring Meeting on Cardiovascular Nursing, which took place earlier this month in Copenhagen, Denmark. Alexandria, Va., USA - The International and American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) have published the proceedings from the Workshop on Effective Use of Fluoride in Asia, which took place March 22-24, 2011, in Phan-Nga, Thailand. This meeting was hosted by the Dental Association of Thailand, and co-hosted by IADR, FDI and the World Health Organization (WHO).
