Now there is a new injectable medication than can reverse the numbness associated with tooth restoration. This injectable formulation, recently approved by the FDA, is phentolamine mesylate or ‘OraVerse’. It is an a-adrenergic blocking drug used historically since 1952 in the management of hypertensive emergencies.
