The British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) is aiming to offer its members updated information on every aspect of dentistry. As a result, the BACD is evaluating market trends to gain information which will be delivered to the dentists to make sure that their services are up to date.

Back in 2007, BACD conducted a survey on the British public to gain more details on the trends of cosmetic dentistry. The survey showed that 32% of the participants were “concerned by the look of their teeth”. The survey also indicated that 53% of the participants were visiting dentists regularly. Another 27% said that cosmetic dentistry could enhance their personal quality of life.

So this year the BACD is seeking dentists to take this new survey. The objective of the survey is to help evaluate dentists’ opinions regarding current treatment trends within the dental community. Although the public survey showed increasing interest in receiving dental cosmetic treatments, there are questions about whether such treatments are applicable or not, particularly as recession is affecting the economy. The expectation is that new dental cosmetic treatments will be available at fewer costs.
